dabah
cofounder & user experience designer
dabah is passionate and effortless digital recipe keeper for all generations and sociables while building a foundation around sharing and discussing recipes with friends, family, and the larger community.
dabah is a passion project that kicked off during Covid-19 in Upstate New York. A group of friends had some extra time to travel and cook yet were struggling with how to share and organize the recipes. After a handful of conversations and brainstorms, they realized the white space and decided to create their own solution to the problem!
Clarissa's role was to design the overall customer experience (UX & UI). She is no longer part of the dabah team.
01. Research & Discover
The team conducted an online survey to 120+ friends and family to better understand recipe keeping challenges, pain points, and opportunities. We learned...
91%
...of respondents currently save recipes for keepsake, sharing, and organization purposes.
69%
...of respondents who save recipes do so on their phones through saving emails, making notes, and bookmarking webpages.
56%
...of respondents would be very and moderately willing to try ya digital recipe organizer.
Paring the survey with industry benchmarking, we realized there as an white space for an application that was both utilitarian, social, and fun to use.
There currently isn't a platform where users can receive content, organize and share personal recipes in a user friendly and aesthetically pleasing platform.
Building user personas helped us think through who our users would be, what use cases would inspire to use dabah, who wouldn't ever use dabah, and who as our north star as we begin to design.
And then, dabah was born!

The team creative mood boards, conducted photoshoots, and worked with a New York-based artist to hand-paint water color illustrations and icons for us to weave throughout our designs.
